Fresh off his performance at the Zhaodai On Leave festival, on June 14 we welcome back Bangkok’s underground scene stalwart DOTT for another sonic travel at Ting! One of the faces behind the More Rice record store he is a well-respected artist on the SE Asia circuit for over a decade and has been making noise overseas with his releases and appearances at well-known venues and festivals. His dynamic yet powerful music is a driver of avant-garde dancefloor experiences that stay away from the cliches of BPM-driven euphoria. Instead, DOTT locks the dancefloor into an ecstatic state with his signature sound pallet – complex drum grooves and powerful baselines. On support the local duo Nigls and Kai.f will make sure the groove keeps steady, make sure not miss this one!!
DOTT
Producer, DJ and co-founder of the More Rice Label and record store, DOTT is building a reputation far beyond his hometown of Bangkok. Well respected on the SE Asia scene for over a decade, in recent years releases on labels in Europe and the US as well as overseas touring have introduced international audiences to his highly modern with old school bits take on underground dance music. With a DOTT production you’re never quite sure where you’ll end up. Tripping grooves and complex emotion take precedent over genre conventions: deep house may reveal a subtly dark edge, while a minimal cut can unfurl into the brightest of colours. Moods range from warm and analogue to futuristic sci-fi, but the attention given to basslines and groove remains a constant powerful. Since debuting on his own More Rice imprint in 2018, DOTT has released through a wide range of labels internationally including Blkmarket (USA), Jugaar(PK), Boiled Wonderland(TH) Mr.Banger (France), Walls And Pals (South Korea) and, in 2024, Brawther’s thisisnegentropy (UK).
Behind the decks, DOTT stays true to his musical personality by foregrounding his own unreleased material alongside favourites by other producers. He has translated years of experience on the Bangkok circuit to the international stage, from clubs like Never Normal (Bangkok), 12 x 12 (Bangkok), Hoppetosse (Berlin), VBX Bret (Amsterdam), Folklor (Lausanne), Tag (Chengdu), Savage (Hanoi), Modeci (Seoul) to festivals including Houghton (UK), Wonderfruit (Thailand), Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Air House (South Korea), Pravda’s (India), Chunyou Festival (China). DOTT is one of the three co-founders of the More Rice collective, who run a vinyl-only label and specialist dance music record store in Bangkok. Their goal is to support upcoming talents in Asia and connect them to international artists.
He has played alongside the likes of Craig Richards, Vera, Z@P, Roman Flügel, Maayan Nidam, DJ Masda, Sonja Moonear, Binh, James Dean Brown, Dandy Jack, Thomas Melchior, Doubting Thomas, Archie Hamilton, Alexi Delano and Eric Volta to name but a few.
